April 2026

24 April – Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People joins FormBuilder

We’re excited to welcome Whaikaha to FormBuilder. As a ministry focused on disability rights and inclusion, Whaikaha joining the platform is a significant step. They’re planning to deliver a new form to make it easier for agencies across government to request important publications, consultations, and announcements in accessible alternative formats, supporting more equitable access to information for disabled people.

This work aligns closely with Whaikaha’s role as the system leader for disability issues in Aotearoa, and with their commitment to accessibility and participation. By using FormBuilder to support requests for alternate formats, agencies will have a clearer, more consistent way to ensure their communications are accessible and meet the needs of diverse audiences.

We’re incredibly proud that Whaikaha has chosen to use FormBuilder. Their decision is a strong vote of confidence in our accessibility credentials and the care we take to build services that work for everyone. Supporting this kaupapa is exactly the kind of impact we aim to have — enabling inclusive, accessible government services across the public sector.

17 April – Turning customer feedback into a fast fix

This week, we successfully resolved an issue reported by several customers using the Business Connect platform. Customers let us know through our support channels that they were unable to submit an application because a required PDF document could not be uploaded, effectively blocking their submission.

We investigated promptly and identified the root cause: the required PDF, hosted on the agency’s website, contained embedded scripts. While this wasn’t immediately visible to users, those scripts were correctly flagged and blocked by our security controls and firewall, preventing the document from being uploaded.

To resolve the issue, we worked directly with the agency to explain what was happening and why. Together, we flattened the PDF and removed the embedded scripts, ensuring the document was both secure and easy for customers to upload.

Once the fix was in place, we followed up with the customers who had raised the issue to let them know what we’d found and confirm that the problem had been resolved. Closing the loop like this helped reinforce trust and demonstrated our commitment to listening to feedback, acting quickly, and improving the customer experience.

A great example of customer insight, strong cross agency collaboration, and security working hand in hand with usability.

10 April – Website changes to FormBuilder.govt.nz

We’ve updated our web domain from businessconnect.govt.nz to formbuilder.govt.nz to better reflect who the site is for and what it’s designed to do. The new domain makes it much clearer that the website is aimed at government teams looking to digitise government services, rather than businesses or the general public.

This change helps reduce confusion, sets clearer expectations for visitors, and aligns the website more closely with the FormBuilder product itself. By using a domain name that directly reflects the service, we’re making it easier for government teams to find the right information, understand how FormBuilder supports their work, and take the next steps toward digital service delivery.

3 April – Fuel response consultation form

Our team was able to quickly support the fuel response by standing up a consultation form for New Zealand businesses to share their views on the government’s response and planned approach. The form was briefed into the team and designed, built, and published on the same day — demonstrating how quickly we can move when there’s an urgent need. Keeping the form simple and focused ensured businesses could respond easily, while still capturing the information decision makers needed.

The consultation was distributed via the business.govt.nz mailing list, reaching around 800,000 businesses nationwide, and received more than 1,000 responses in a short period of time. This rapid turnaround and strong engagement highlights the role FormBuilder can play in emergency situations, enabling government teams to gather timely, high quality insight at pace when it matters most.
