Business Connect release notes

Our release on 25 March 2026 includes the following changes.

Business Connect platform

Stronger security protections

We’ve delivered several enhancements to make the platform safer, more flexible, and more reliable across environments. Updated security controls now provide better session safety and reduce exposure to cross‑site attacks, supporting a more secure experience for all users.

New – Remove alcohol products to a storage Customs Controlled Area (247)

This form allows Licensed Manufacturing Areas (LMAs) that lack sufficient space to store the alcohol they manufacture can now request authorisation to move duty‑unpaid alcohol products to an Off‑site Storage (OSS) Customs‑controlled Area.

New – Excise duty remission application

A new form is available for excise clients to apply for excise duty remission (a waiver on excise duty).

New – Social Investment Fund: Pathway One New Investment – Registration of Interest (ROI) Round Two survey

This survey form gathers insights and feedback on how organisations experienced the Pathway One ROI application process.

FormBuilder.govt.nz

This release is one of our most significant yet, introducing the new Edit dialog, enhanced logic capabilities, strengthened accessibility, and refreshed help and support content.

A new standard for building components

We’ve redesigned the Edit dialog to deliver a cleaner, more structured experience that makes building and configuring forms faster and easier.

The updated interface is a major usability step forward. Functions are grouped more clearly, the hierarchy is more intuitive, and accessibility has guided many of the design decisions.

These changes make it easier to move through settings, understand relationships between options, and complete tasks with less effort.

Key improvements include:

  • Clearer grouping of settings for easier orientation
  • Improved defaults and visual hierarchy
  • Earlier warnings and better validation to highlight issues faster
  • Accessibility enhancements such as improved keyboard navigation, stronger screen reader support, and clearer focus indicators

More dynamic and responsive forms

We’ve been quietly and excitedly working toward this moment: FormBuilder’s long‑awaited advanced logic.

This has been one of the most requested upgrades, and it takes FormBuilder to a new level of customisation. Instead of being limited to a single rule per component, builders can now layer multiple conditions to create richer, more adaptable forms without duplicating content.

We’ve also introduced new logic operations, giving builders more flexibility and control than ever before.

This is a major milestone that unlocks entirely new form patterns and removes many of the workarounds teams have relied on until now.

Improved help and support

With new features comes a refreshed help experience.

We’ve updated the Help and Support content to align with the introduction of the new edit dialog and advanced logic.

Updated content now includes:

  • Guidance on using new features
  • Recommendations for component use
  • Best‑practice form design principles

These updates make it easier for builders to find clear, practical support as they create and refine their forms.

Other improvements

  • Better keyboard navigation and improved screen reader support
  • Clearer validation messages and improved visibility of errors
  • Updated styling and layout in line with modern design standards
  • Alerts when changes affect existing logic or calculations
  • Improved guidance for importing labels and values
  • More consistent handling of logic‑related errors
